Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026. If you live in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad or Delhi, the rules for buying and bursting crackers are stricter than in the rest of India. Here is a plain-language summary. Rules change every year – always check the latest order of the Supreme Court and your district administration.

What was allowed in Delhi NCR in Diwali 2025

In October 2025 the Supreme Court relaxed the complete firecracker ban in NCR for Diwali, on strict conditions:

  • Only green crackers listed by CSIR-NEERI, made by NEERI-registered and PESO-licensed manufacturers, with a QR code on the box.
  • Sale only by licensed traders at designated locations for a few days before Diwali.
  • Online / e-commerce sale was not allowed.
  • Bursting only between 6–7 am and 8–10 pm on the day before Diwali and on Diwali day.
  • Barium-based crackers and joined crackers (laris / walas) were not allowed, and crackers could not be brought in from outside NCR.

What about Diwali 2026?

As of mid-October 2026, the Supreme Court has said there will be no total ban in Delhi NCR, but limited bursting only. The exact list of permitted crackers, the timings, whether laris and barium-based crackers will be allowed, and the position on online sales are still awaited. We will update this page as soon as the order is issued.

How we follow the rules

PatakaCart does not sell crackers online. You add products to your cart and send an enquiry; we confirm availability and the final bill on WhatsApp or by phone, in line with what is permitted in your area. For NCR customers we recommend our green crackers.

Tips for a safe, legal Diwali in NCR

  • Buy only boxes with the green crackers logo and a QR code you can scan.
  • Burst crackers only during the permitted hours.
  • Keep water and sand nearby and follow our cracker safety tips.
  • Avoid crackers near hospitals, schools, courts and religious places (silence zones).
